Audience Research

Questionnaire - filled out by one of our target audience












What we did?




We created questionnaires that were unbiased, to hand out to our target audience, aged 14 - 20.






We asked them questions including:




-What is your favourite genre of music?




-Would you prefer a group/band or solo artist?




-What kind of image/style would you like your group/artist to have?








We used stratified sampling to find out our results. We gave five questionnaires students in Year 10, in Year 11, in Year 12 and in Year 13. So our target audience was covered completely, giving us a mix of answers.




From the results we gained an insight into what our target audience wanted and what they felt needed to be available for them to consume in the market.







From our results the obvious most popular genre of music is RnB. Therefore we are going to be creating an RnB promotional video.












It is clear from our research that our target audience wants to see a younger artist (aged 16-25), so far from our research we can see our audience wants an RnB group/artist aged 16-25.














From our research, we also found that our target audience would like to see a female artists as they feel music have not got enough female artist role models.








Action Points






  • Find a female artist around the age of 16-25


  • Find an artist from the R'n'B genre


  • Make our artist fashionable, and someone our audience will look up to (role-model)


  • Include; sample of video and song, live gigs, concerts, interviews, backstage footage and studio recording as this is what our audience would like to see in a promotional video.
